Language
Since Slovenia's independence in 1991, Slovenian has been the official language. Today, about 2,5 million people speak Slovenian. It is one of the official languages of the EU.
Currency and means of payment
In Slovenia you pay in Euro (EUR). You can pay everywhere with credit cards. It is accepted as a means of payment in all shops, Restaurant or Hotels.
Tip
In the restaurants, a tip between 5 and 10% of the bill is normal. Slovenian waiters do not accept tips with the card. In addition to your credit card, you should therefore always have a small tip in the form of coins with you.
Transport and infrastructure
A vignette must be purchased for the use of motorways.
Traffic fines must be paid immediately. Otherwise, the police have the right to confiscate your passport, identity card and vehicle documents until the fine is paid.

Opening hours
Most shops are open from 08.00 to 19.00 on weekdays and on Saturdays from 08.00 to 13.00. Recently there are more and more shops that are also open in the evenings and on Sundays.
